Why Pineapple Pizza is the best in Canada.
The very first time I had pineapple pizza was when my father brought us into a pizza hut for an afternoon lunch when I was a wee lad the age of 7. One bite and I was hooked, each slice hitting your tongue with the tangy taste of well-seasoned pizza sauce, the soft creamy texture of mozzarella that stretches out with every bite, that familiar salty and wonderful taste of a juicy slice of ham, and then finally the explosion of sweet flavors when you bite into the pineapple, oh me oh my, what an enticing combination. Ever since then, the first thing that comes to my mind when I think of pizza, is a good old-fashioned pineapple pizza.
Who came up with such a sweet and cheesy idea first?
Pineapple pizza's humble origins come from smaller area in Ontario, Canada way back in the 1960s. A man named Sam Panopoulos was inspired by the salty-sweet flavors of chinese food and being an enjoyer of the stretchy-cheesiness of pizza, decided to try his hand at giving pizza a similar flavour. The solution he arrived at was Pineapple Pizza, otherwise known as; Hawaiian Pizza. A simple yet wonderful combination of ham, stretchy mozzarella cheeses, salty meat in the form of slices of ham, and a well seasoned pizza sauce with all the herbs in or on top of it all to give it that great smell and taste worthy of the best pizza in Canada.
Is Pineapple Pizza a Canadian thing?
Despite what some people may think, Pineapple Pizza did not come from Hawaii as it's more popular name would suggest. It was the idea and creation of a Greek-Born Canadian man named Sam Panopoulos who came up with the idea for the Ontario style pizza in his restaraunt in Chatham-Kent. Little did he know just how popular and widespread his cheesy salty-sweet little experiment would go on to become.
Why is Pineapple Pizza so famous
The spread and popularity of the salty sweet pineapple pizza, also known by it's other name, "Hawaiian Pizza" came after its introduction to the world from its little home in Ontario in the early 1960s, initially to rather lukewarm reception. However, as time went on the dish eventually spread through word of mouth shortly after entering people mouths and introducing its salty-sweet flavor for the first time. By 2017 the salty and cheesy goodness of a ham and cheese on a pizza topped with exotic pineapple flavour had spread so far and wide that world leaders have had arguments over the pizza dish live. From its humble origins in 1960s its tumultuous reputation has resulted in many arguments, from being the worst pizza in Canada to the best pizza in Canada. It owes its controversial existence as much as it owes its best-in-class flavour for its incredible fame.

Then, finally, the salty sweet explosion of flavour alongside the tangy sauce and signature mozzarella texture when you take a bite of one of the best things to grace Canada's blue skies and green fields.
